CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Nine of the 10 Patriot League teams will be in action when the 2015-16 women's basketball season tips off on Nov. 13, beginning a five-week non-League schedule before Colgate and Lafayette open League play on Dec. 22.
View the entire 2015-16 Patriot League Women's Basketball Composite Schedule.
The non-League slate features 14 teams that made a 2015 NCAA DI Women's Basketball Championship appearance, including the National Champion - UConn - and runner-up - Notre Dame; 15 teams that made an appearance in last year's WNIT; and two teams that competed in the WBI.
Colgate will start its season at Kent State on Sunday, Nov. 15 after the rest of the nine teams open the season on Friday, Nov. 13. Three of the nine -- Army West Point, Boston University, and Lehigh -- will play at home while the remaining six will open on the road.
After Colgate and Lafayette play the first Patriot League game of the season on Tuesday, Dec. 22 in Easton, the other eight teams open the Patriot League slate on Wednesday, Dec. 30. The schedule once again features 18 games as each of the 10 schools will play a home-and-home against the other teams in the League.
The season concludes on March 2, and the 2015 Patriot League Tournament begins with the first round on March 5 followed by the quarterfinals on March 7, semifinals on March 11 and championship on March 12. All 10 teams qualify for the Patriot League Tournament, which is played entirely at campus sites with the higher-seeded squad hosting each game.
Both matchups between Army West Point and Navy this season are scheduled to air on CBS Sports Network, with the first of the two being played at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, January 23 at 11:30 a.m. as part of a double-header feature with the men's teams. A second double-header featuring the Army West Point and Navy squads is on tap for Saturday, February 20, this time from Annapolis with the women tipping off at 11 a.m. CBS Sports Network will also televise the 2016 Patriot League Women's Basketball Championships, for the seventh year in a row, on Saturday, March 12 at 6 p.m.
American Sports Network will broadcast two women's contests, beginning with action between Holy Cross and Lehigh in Bethlehem on Sunday, January 17 at 3 p.m. The ASN schedule concludes with the regular season as Bucknell visits Lafayette on Wednesday, March 2 at 6 p.m.
